Doing Business with the Commonwealth of Virginia
The Commonwealth of Virginia purchases over $45 billion worth of goods and services each year. The portal for selling and purchasing goods, eVa, is an invaluable marketing tool and can increase business sales if utilized properly. Earlier this year Governor McAuliffe signed Executive Order 20, which expands opportunities for small businesses in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The executive order sets the highest contracting goal in the history of Virginia for state expenditures to small, women, and minority owned businesses (SWaM). Additionally, a “micro business” designation has been developed for small businesses with no more than 25 employees and no more than $3 million in revenue.
The Blue Ridge Crossroads Small Business Development Center invited Sandy Ratliff with Virginia Small Business & Supplier Diversity to provide counseling on registration and navigation of eVa. Ms. Ratliff will be able to walk business owners through each step – such as registering, running reports, and the bidding process. The one-on-one sessions will take place in one hour increments on December 16, 2014 beginning at 9:00am with the last time slot available beginning at 4:00pm.
