Small Business Workshops
The Blue Ridge Crossroads Small Business Development Center is pleased to announce small business development workshops planned for November and December. According to Docstoc.com, a small business information resource, there are 28 million small businesses in the US and over 22 million are self- employed. Over 50% of the working population works in a small business. In an effort to meet the ongoing needs of existing businesses we have designed a series focused on hot topics and current information.
Leaders are those that serve the people who serve the customers. Front line staff members can make or break the customer experience. On November 19th from 9am-3pm Becky Nave from People Incorporated Financial Services will lead a Customer Service Leadership seminar. Learn how to deal with difficult employees, inspire employees, and be reminded how to lead by example. We’ll build teamwork and work to understand the customer experience, focusing on both internal and external customers and leadership in the workplace. This workshop is meant for business owners, managers, and those you wish to be leaders in your organization. A FREE box lunch will be available with pre-registration.
The Affordable Healthcare Act is complex and confusing, especially for the mid-size and small businesses. We will hold workshops designed to answer your questions and provide discussion opportunities with licensed navigators and tax accountants. Affordable Healthcare Act Requirements and Small Business to be held November 19th from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Questions that will be answered include: Do I have to offer health insurance? and What paperwork must be filed? The next series, Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Small Business, will explain the health care credits, full time equivalent, and why you need to talk with your account about health insurance. The series will be held twice, November 21st and December 3rd from 12:00pm-1:30pm.
One of the greatest hurdles of business owners is the lack of knowledge about the effect technology has on business growth. It can simplify, automate and speed up a task you do every day in business. Join us on December 10th from 10am-Noon to learn more about Cloud Computing, Mobile for Business and Apps for Business. Taught by Sandy Ratliff with Virginia Department of Business Assistance there is always something new to learn!
